WOYWW 134 & Brighton Belles

WOYWW 134
 It's the last WOYWW of the year and I'm happy to be here in Brighton spending a few days visiting the Southern branch of my family. Here's my alternative work desk and the only crafting I have brought with me is on there......my knitting..... yet another scarf, shawlette style. Also on the desk is a good bottle of Port which DD1 is very generously sharing after the lovely meal she cooked. 
Don't you just love the retro kitchen unit and the old refectory table... just like my Mum used to have in the 1950s when I was a child and I'm sure it will bring back memories to many of you. 
 I really had fun watching the Brighton Belles open the Christmas gifts we brought Father Christmas sent for them.
 Look how fast the little hands below manage to tear those wrappings!
We all went down to the seafront today for a healthy walk along the beach then a rather unhealthy but delish lunch of fish and chips! Amazingly we bumped into my next door neighbour from 250 miles away who was also visiting her family down here! 
Tear along to the desk of the Queen of WOYWW aka Julia of stamping ground as it's the last chance this year to spy on the craft desks of the world. Service as usual all next year too!

    Gosh what a coincidence bumping into a neighbour. We had Chish and Fips the other day too - at Bannys. You know how good they are. Ooh doesn't the wee one look like the German Grandee from the side?

    wow, how amazing to meet your neighbours when 250 miles away from home! and do so love the Brighton Belles Jo - so intent on their pressie! and yes had one of those cabinet in the kitchen I lived in the 1970's in Sydney - it was not painted but old stained timber one with green handles - really liked it very sensible to use! but had a distinctive smell of the timber - camphor laurel used in it somewhere as I recall! .     My sister had one of those kitchenettes in the early 60s - I thought it was very modern at the time (we had a pantry and a meat safe then). Funny how both are making a bit of a comeback.
    Enjoyed the photos of the Brighton Belles and at that age wrapping-paper is just an inconvenience on the way yo a good present.

    Gorgeous photos Jo, there are definitely some familial resemblances, I wonder if you see them. Somehow a bracing walk doesn't sound so difficult if there are fish and chips at the end!

    Hi Jo - that photo on your xmas eve post is a gem and your Brighton Belles are gorgeous - lovely time for them! Glad you are enjoying your break. I tried knitting the scarf - my wool was maybe too thick but still looked Ok. I gave it to M for Xmas. Might try again with some finer stuff. Happy New Year. x Jo

    Hello Jo, lovely photos of the little ones unwrapping their parcels, and, yes, they can open them far more quickly than it takes for you to wrap them. A bracing walk sounds good to me, pity gales we are enduring here make it out of the question - but the fish and chips sound tempting. Love the retro kitchen cabinet - everyone I knew had one of these back in the fifties. One of those could be very useful storage in the craft space, methinks.     Jo I would KILL for that cabinet. We had one like that at home when I was a kid and we also a narrow one in the same colour as your daughter's.
    Those little ones are gorgeous.
    I am salivating at the thought of fish and chips by the sea.

    Nothing beats a bracing walk by the sea with the promise of good fish and chips at the end of it! Loving the Little Belles with their Christmas gifts, such concentration! My step father always ran into people he knew where ever we went, be it on holiday 200 miles away or just in the next town! Hope you all have a wonderful New Year.

    Isn't knitting the perfect travel project! After posting this morning I went to work on my wreath (almost done) and then went to see the Sherlock Holmes movie. Watson was going to Brighton for his honeymoon......
