WOYWW 172

Last week didn't end up as planned and, as a result of an upset system (enough said about that) I missed out on a weekend of fun and art. I'm fine now, thank goodness but, boo hoo! I had to cancel my trip with Donna to stay with her lovely friend Lizzie so we could attend Jennie's altered book workshop at her new shop. Instead, all I have done, each day until today, is crochet but my new ripple blanket has made great progress and kept me company and became warmer and warmer as it grew on my lap.
What's on Your Work desk Wednesday?
Each week, courtesy of our lovely Julia's hospitality we expose our crafty spaces to all who wish to share a peek ...HERE at her stamping ground blog
You'll no doubt be saying about my desk.... "I told you that tidy desk wouldn't stay neat for long" but this below is only the residue of my first arty play in a week and it was soon cleared away......So, ner, ner!
Here's the proof! It has been scoured clean but looks a wee bit messy as it hadn't dried before I snapped my photo.
Yes! that's a medal on the table and I think that I deserve one for my sofa sitting and running to the loo marathon, but this medal is far from an Olympic one.
It's Cadburys chocolate and if you are in England and have a Home Bargain store near you, you may be in time to snap them up at the bargain price of 19p instead of their original 99p. I also bought the £11.99 toy mascots at 49p! and coffee mugs filled with chocolates at 49p. All official Olympic souvenir products.
Today I played around with transferring magazine images to fabric...
and did a little more to this painted canvas and I think this image will fit in well in the centre when I decide how to set it there.
Finally my ripple blanket.....the results of my sofa sitting marathon just proves something good comes from almost everything.
Due to these circumstances beyond my control my blog candy prizes have been delayed so apologies to the winners concerned and I hope the items will be well worth the wait!

I was away from my desk last week and couldn't leave any comment so I'm trying to get around as many of my blogging friends today.

Oh blimey, poor you - how sad that you missed your weekend of crafting fun :( Glad to hear you're on the mend now and your recuperation time was well spent..that blanket is gorgeous! Love the soft colours you've used. I've got a request to put to you! When you come to the crop on the 13th, please could you bring a little yarn and a crochet hook with you and show me a few stitches? I always learn better when someone shows me rather than trying to crane your neck and follow a youtube video!! Hope I'm not being cheeky???
Hugs, LLJ #75 xx

Aww sorry to hear you missed out on your arty weekend due to illness. What rotten timing! Glad you're on the road to recovery now though. Love your arty transfers to fabric, they've worked really well. You've obviously got the knack. I saw something squished on the road outside my house this morning with a ribbon attached and the mystery is solved, seeing the photo of the cadbury's gold medal haha. Bet they're not being sold for 19p at the local shop here. Beautiful blanket - only you would keep busy whilst ill haha. Pxx

The rug is gorgeous and such a pity that you missed out on an arty weekend with friends. Love the gold medal and the transfer pieces are wonderful. I find using the right glue/gel medium can make or break me when I do transfers.

Sorry you have been ill Jo - nothing worse than the runs. At least you were able to do a bit of comfort-knitting. Love the image transfers, something I keep promising myself I will do. Not done any crafting since we got back from Norfolk at the weekend so nothing to show at all on my desk - too busy playing with our new Campervan - just like a big dolls house.
Hope to see you soon.

Sorry to hear you’ve not been well JO, there’s nothing worse than being too worried to stray too far from the smallest room in the house. Glad to hear you’re on the mend though and back creating. I love the way the transferred images have come out, especially the way the colours look muted and talking of colours, I love the colour combination for your blanket. The way the temperature is dropping of an evening you’ll be pleased to sit with on your lap while you’re working on it.

Happy Crafting!

You've written an engaging post, Jo. I'm sorry to hear that you've been employed as a Loo Sitter for a while and hope that gig ends soon! Perhaps too many Cadbury's ... I mean, considering you got a medal and all!! JK Be well and fab job on the blanket and the canvas transfers! You did more in a week being sick than I did being well! Take care! Darnell #132

So glad you're feeling better Jo, I'd heard you'd been poorly. Love the image transfers and as for the blanket, well I have one in my project bag waiting to have a bash at. Done as much as I can on my blanket for the new place as the rest of the wool is in storage. Will take piccies when its complete, x

I do hope you are feeling better each day. Your lovely crocheted blanket has benefitted from the time you were 'indisposed.
Thanks for your comments on my blog. I have ordered the book you recommended. It looks as though it will give me a laugh or two. Sadly they don't do a Kindle version yet. We are flying to Dublin, and then travelling all around S.Ireland. The middle weekend we will be in Cork for the folk festival. My dad was born in Cork, and Chris's mum a few miles south in Clonakilty. His dad is from Donegal so we will be going up there as well. We will pop over the border so that I can go to Giant's Causeway because I have always wanted to see it. It will be a busy couple of weeks but I am really looking forward to it. It is our first holiday when we aren't chasing the sun. We are running away from it this time!
I'm not really worried about the cataract op. but my eyesight is poor to start with so it won't be a miracle cure. I learned that when I had the other eye done a couple of years ago. I just get a bit panicky when they put a cloth right over my face, but that's how it's done out here. But it will be great to see colours properly again. Kate x #97

My daughter will be so envious when I tell her of this. She wasn't able to buy anything of the official Olympic stuff that WAS NOT related to the US Team, and she wanted the "real" stuff (i.e. what you get in Britain). Well, perhaps I just don't tell her... (makes my life way more easier).
