WOYWW 135 Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone and the first WOYWW of 2012! Despite being away last week I tried to visit as many of you as possible to send my best wishes.
Back home from a great family visit in Brighton, I have given my mojo a, much needed, kick start by subscribing to the FREE inspirational site designed and planned to boost our creativity after the holidays.
Summit 2012 Creative Jump Start
A daily boost with techniques, hints and tips by a selection of talented artists from around the world and the ones I've looked at have done just that. Below on my desk I'm following Dina Wakley's warm up advice and I'm loving it.
I came across Creative Jump Start via http://jencushman.wordpress.com and it led me to the co-ordinator and instigator www.nathaliesstudio.com
Here's my desk with my first art start of the year just by experimenting freestyle with colour as my warm up.
On my desk is some of my silversmithing equipment which my DD1 has returned to me so I can seriously start to make jewellery again. I can hear Donna shouting Hurray!!
You may notice two chunky cobblers tools which I bought in Holsworthy Market in Devon during my holiday down there, which will be ideal to texture metal. They smell wonderful.
DD was going to throw out the blue and white Polish mug (as it has a tiny chip) so I dived in and saved it as a paint brush/pencil pot.
Ready to be stamped and embellished or just saved!
I wonder what all the other WOYWWers around the globe are doing to start 2012 with a creative burst. If you too are curious pop over to see more at Julia's blog... Stamping-Ground and join in the world wide snoop on the desks of the world.

Whilst I was down on the South Coast of England our friends kindly took us to Bexhill-on-Sea to the Warhol FREE exhibition at the De la Warr pavilion. It was so interesting and really opened my eyes and mind to the full span of work by this wacky artist. I really enjoyed seeing the iconic faces of Mao Tse Tung, Blondie and Marilyn Monroe, in so many colour variations and all his other pictures, from tiny detailed ones right up to the huge wall to wall installation and video room. Quite an extensive exhibition well worth seeing if you can get there.
No photographs allowed (which I expected inside) but tut tut! I was caught and reprimanded just for getting this pic and that was only outside in the foyer!!!!
The De la Warr pavilion is a spectacular Art Deco Arts Centre which is well worth a visit in it's own right. It has been beautifully renovated and stands alongside the seafront in Bexhill.
Here's DH and our friends on one of the fabulous staircases overlooking the sea.
I managed to make another scarf/shawlette as a gift for my friend on the journey down and finished it off before we visited them. The patterns are still on offer, free from me via an email request.
My first flowers of 2012, beautiful HUGE cerise roses (plus a bottle of wine)... a New Year gift from our lovely next door neighbour. Thanks Betty!!
Blog Candy
My Blog Candy draw is still open until 6th Jan
Full details and sign up on my 20th Dec post!

Your creativeness looks as though its up and running ...I think I need to visit that site. Glad you had a great visit to Btighton and Bexhill ...that centre looks amazing.
re your last post ...My Mum had one of those units while I was growing up and then I bought a second hand one when I was first married ('68)...painted it to match the yellow formica table and chairs for the kitchen, that we bought at the Ideal Home Exibition ...£10 in saved 3d coins paid for them... how times have changed.xx

Blimey! This post is just chock full of crafty goodness. Deffo marking the jump start link, and just live those tags. Pretty colour combos and so useful to have to hand. Warhol. Ah yes. He did much more than soup cans. I wonder if I could talk DH into a road trip. The pavilion looks amazing and the exhibit a bonus.

Have a great Woyww.

Hooray for saving that Polish mug! You'll get great joy using it as a paint brush pot - just don't mix it up with your cuppa!! Loved the pic of you at the Exhibition, trust you for getting told off, I thought that only happened to me.... :D

Hi Jo! You need a boost? There´s always so much going on on your desk!
I have always loved Andy Warhol´s works - I have seen his exhibition in Helsinki years ago, before he died. I was a student then, and had no money to buy anything... :(

Happy 2012!

Well done you for getting a stuck in there. Maybe I should checkout that link. I am holding off / putting off as we have one more set of visitors coming from Scotland (with pressies :) but will have tomorrow as my tutoring starts next week and T is in nursery - and there is always Monday :) I think getting back near a couple of art galleries needs to go on our list this year. We did support the Tate for about 5 years but had to stop last year. 31/2 is a good age to start though right?......

I have also signed up for the creative jumpstart. Looks like a very interesting line up of people who will be putting ideas out for us to try. Love the exhibition you went to and good on you for posting the forbidden pic.

Happy New year to you. I hope 2012 is a full, busy, fun and creative time for you. Glad you enjoyed your time in Bexhill, if I'd known you were there I could of timed my trip better! We went down on Sunday and took in the Warhol exhibition too. I loved seeing the iconic Marilyn work and getting a feel for his work. I love the pavilion and we go fairly regularly as it's not too far to drive (and parking is still free in some places there!)
